Welcome to Chatter’s first swimsuit issue!

Our bathing beauties, shown here in adorable bikinis and tankinis, have been preparing for pageants and exercising for months—so if you don’t look quite like them, don’t beat yourself up!

If you prefer one-piece bathing suits, then keep in mind they are usually the first to fly off the racks, even in smaller sizes. Women dread shopping for bathing suits just as much as shopping for lingerie and jeans. Walking into the changing room with those terrible florescent lights, and trying on suit after suit in front of a three way mirror is almost as painful as a third degree burn.

Here are a few helpful hints to get through this “torture”:

1 Know your body’s shape before you walk in the store. Are you curvy, pear shaped or petite? Do you have a long torso? Realistic answers will save you a lot of time in the changing room. You may be accustomed to wearing a one-piece when in fact a tankini could be much more flattering. If you are tall or have a long torso, you should try bikinis with fun patterns or prints and stay away from solid one-piece suits.

2 Large-chested women should wear halter tankinis or one-piece suits. If you are a plus size, choose solid-colored or dip-died tankinis or one-pieces. Stay away from the small prints.

3 To avoid strap lines, make sure you select a bathing suit that has a bandeau top or look for a strapless one-piece.

4 Pay VERY close attention to the quality of the fabric. If you don’t want to be seen in your birthday suit, buy a suit that is well lined, has excellent fabric content and isn’t a knit. Also be aware that gold grommets on suits will look stunning at first, but then start to lose their luster over time. For the ultra chic look, wear a black bikini or one-piece with a broad brimmed hat, black shades and natural wedge sandals.

Kim’s summer beauty tips:

If you want your face to have a bronzy glow, then add eminence organic sun defense water resistant powder over your sunscreen. eminence powders are available at natural Body. to achieve those luscious summertime lips, try Bobbie Brown’s sandy Beige #21 or Pink sugar #9 shimmer lip glosses. Kim’s summer beauty tips:

Here is a trick: after you apply your shadow, just curl your lashes and skip the mascara. Th is way you don’t have to worry about smudges following your swim. shine on!
